Phil and Alice Lawrence purchased and renovated the old vicarage in Inns Court (now called The Cairn) in 2013, and Phil was ordained and commissioned as Baptist Minister for Knowle West in a celebration held in the garden in July 2014.
Our patterns of life continue to evolve in response to God’s leading and to our context. For more details, please visit our Life at the Cairn page.
The Cairn was helpfully featured in West of England Baptist Association (WEBA) News in Summer 2017 and Baptists Together Autumn 2017. Phil became a fully accredited minister in July 2018 (WEBA AGM).
Developing strong networks and partnerships at a local level, and further afield, is a central part of our approach. We have been pleased to partner recently with Scripture Union, who wrote encouragingly about the Light Party held at The Cairn in November 2017 (on 21 Aug 18).
Other points of interest:
The Cairn has been a registered charity (No 1173158) since 24 May 2017.
Inns Court is one of six small areas (LSOAs) in Bristol ranked among the top 1% nationally for multiple deprivation.
We are grateful for ongoing support from Home Mission, and for this feature: Day 17 of 40 Days of Home Mission.
We were supported by Urban Expression in the early days of our journey here. A former resident’s personal journey of faith (Lee) was reported here: February 2015 newsletter. The Cairn was also featured in the Nov 16 and Feb 17 newsletters.
